Curator’s statement
In 2024, Halloween fell on a Thursday, coinciding with the weekly Art Walk. The result? A buzzing, colorful town filled with creativity and celebration. Locals and visitors embraced the festive spirit with elaborate costumes, lively music and art displays, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. But the magic didn’t end with Halloween. Día de los Muertos followed, honoring loved ones with beautiful altars, marigold-strewn streets and heartfelt celebrations. If you ever have the chance to visit during this time, it’s truly something special.

Things to do in San José del Cabo, Mexico

Thursday night Art Walk
From November to June, this is a must-do. Wander through galleries, shop local artists’ works and soak in the lively atmosphere with live music and delicious food stands in the square. The Art Walk is from 5-9 pm and the streets around the square are closed to vehicles.
Explore local beaches
If you're seeking calm waters, Palmilla Beach and Costa Azul are the best bets.
Day trips
Santiago: Discover hiking trails, swimmable waterfalls like Sol de Mayo and hot springs.
Todos Santos: A laid-back surfer town with art galleries, boutique shops and excellent eateries.
Cabo San Lucas: For a night out, take a short ride to experience Cabo’s famous nightlife.
Relax Poolside. Sometimes, the best plan is no plan. A poolside margarita paired with Baja sunshine is always a win. I enjoyed cocktails at my rooftop pool at El Ganzo Hotel.
