Curator’s statement
Bhutan offers an unparalleled luxury nature vacation with its pristine landscapes, sustainable and luxurious accommodations, and immersive cultural experiences, providing a serene and opulent experience for discerning travelers. It's a big vacation with such a big reward. The natural beauty that Bhutan offers cannot be matched. I always say, "The bumpier the road, the further the trek and the most unmapped the destinations you travel, the bigger the payoff upon arrival." I can validate this stands true for Bhutan. You truly cannot imagine or understand until you experience it. If nature, trees, hiking, fresh fruit, wildlife, home-cooked meals, architecture, sustainability, conscious tourism, meditation, reaching great heights and adventure are your thing, to Bhutan you must go. This is a vacation I will never stop thinking about and will aim to return again and again.

Things to do in Bhutan
In no particular order, because every trip will be customized for you. Here are some examples of unique experiences put together with my favorite partner; MyBhutan, a local DMC specializing in unprecedented access to the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Rinpung Dzong - Receive blessings and spiritual cleansing from a high Lama at Rinpung Dzong.
Luxury tented Sangwa Camp, Haa - Go camping (in unimaginable beautiful remote luxury) in a custom-built, mobile, no-harm-to-the-land campsite run by MyBhutan. Learn and play traditional Bhutanese games such as darts and archery. Indulge in forested camp massages. Gather around a bonfire for a memorable evening of Bhutanese whiskey tasting (yes, they make whiskey in Bhutan). Receive a personalized astrology reading under the stars by a reincarnated monk. Enjoy a candlelit dinner served a yak herder's hut or in forested ancient ruins.
Ugyen Doley Farm Home - Enjoy the best homestay meal of your life — dumplings (buckwheat dumplings only made in Haa called hoentay), chili cheese soup and so much more. Freshly prepared by Bhutanese hosts at their home in Dumchoe in the heart of the Haa Valley.
Buddha Point - At the top of a hill in Thimphu, you might be lucky enough to see a mandala ceremony or potentially a local performance, but where you will certainly experience a meditation and gorgeous view.
Zorig Chusom - Visit the art school in Thimphu, where students are furthering their studies and you can see firsthand how they are painting mandalas, making textiles and molding ceramics. Learn about the 13 traditional arts of Bhutan.
Lamperi Park - Visit the park and plant a tree with Green Bhutan. This tree is planted by you and looked after by locals in the park. This gives back a morsel towards the carbon emission impact for your flight to Bhutan. You will receive information so you can look after the growth of your tree virtually.
Punakha Dzong - This jaw-dropping Dzong is not to be missed. It's detailed in every paint stroke, angled to take in the sky and the hills around it, but also strategically built at the intersection of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers, which are believed to symbolize the harmonious union of the masculine and feminine forces. Here, you will go to pray, absorb, admire and take it all in. They say Bhutan finds you and, by this point of your journey, you will feel that.
Tiger's Nest - Don't Google this, don't do your research, just know that the payoff is grand. You will go at your own pace (ideally before sunrise) and at the top you will be blessed not just with views but also with meditation and prayers for longevity, wealth and good health.
Gangtey - You can see the endangered black-necked crane and hike the beautiful Gangtey Nature Trail with sweeping valley views.
Natural Hot Springs in Gasa - You can soak in one of the most therapeutic natural hot springs, known to have strong healing powers.
Places to eat & drink in Bhutan
Your meals will consist of luxury on-site dining at your hotels — which all are designed to be all-inclusive or half-board — or you will enjoy curated homestay home-cooked meals. Perhaps once or twice you will dine in the town of Thimphu or Paro, but food is best served in a home-like setting and, after your long days, you will enjoy the cuisines prepared at your accommodations.
Need to know
Bhutan operates a strict entry policy, so it’s essential that your trip is planned thoroughly and, ideally, with a certified local guide. I have the best partner in MyBhutan (a DMC actually based and solely focused on Bhutan). And now I have intimate firsthand knowledge, so, as a creative strategist and sustainable travel designer, it would be my honor to plan your trip with you to Bhutan and design the experiences best for you. You can go in a group, solo or as a couple — there is a lot of flexibility.
