Curator’s statement
South Africa is one of my favorite places to visit - it truly has it all. You can explore the city for a few days, hike, head to the beach, explore wine country, and then end your trip on a relaxing, yet epic, safari. It's a beautiful and friendly country that makes for an ideal honeymoon or couples trip for any foodie or adventurer.

Things to do in South Africa
Wine Tasting - Spend two days wine tasting and separate your time between Stellenbosch with a private guide and Franschhoek on the can't-be-missed wine tram!
Hiking - Reaching the top of table mountain is a must. There are a few ways up to the top and it can be challenging, but rewarding. The best part is you can take the easy way down on the cableway. Opting for a shorter hike? Lions Head is beautiful and the perfect hike for sunrise or sunset.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden - A truly beautiful spot to go for a stroll with a cup of coffee in the morning. Their Boomslang Trail is not to be missed!
Boulders Beach - Penguins anyone? Watching these guys have fun in the water is something that can't be missed.
Camps Bay, Chapman's Peak Drive & Cape of Good Hope - Touring these areas is beautiful with stunning scenery and it's awesome to hear the history around Cape of Good Hope.
V&A Waterfront - Spend some time walking around the waterfront to pick up a souvenir and have a glass of wine on the water, all while listening to locals play music out by the ferris wheel.
Cape Town City Center - Head out in the morning to explore Bo Kaap's color houses & stroll through the Company's Garden with a cup of coffee.
Safari - Lastly, the number one can't be missed thing to do is a safari to see the Big Five in Kruger National Park or Sabi Sands. My advice? Find a lodge like Lion Sands Game Reserve that is allowed in both the National and Private game reserves to get the best of both worlds! Be sure to have at least 4 nights to take advantage of all of the lodges offerings such as massages and hippo walks.
Day Trip
Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai - Just about two hours outside of Cape Town you can take a day drip to dive with sharks and encounter sporadic great white sharks, copper sharks and even stingrays! Not a certified diver? No problem - they allow first time divers since you'll be in shallow waters!
Places to eat & drink in South Africa
La Colombe - Amazing spot for a special occasion dinner. Request a table by the window for beautiful views. This French meets Asian tasting menu is not to be missed, as the food is just as good as it's presentation.
Grub & Vine - Another tasting menu that was truly fantastic, but head a more down to earth vibe. Insiders tip: Head downstairs to the Blue Room after dinner for some live jazz and a night cap.
Kloof Street House - Ever have ostrich before? If not, you must try it here! Trendy and cozy atmosphere with high end food. Lots of nightlife around this area for after dinner.
FYN - This Japanese meets South African cuisine is sure to please ranking at number 37 in the world this year! This is another spot perfect for a special occasion that offers a high end tasting menu along with wine pairing.
Harbour House - Located right on the water in the V&A, it's the perfect spot to stop for lunch and enjoy waterfront views from the rooftop.
Cause & Effect Cocktail Kitchen - An awesome and funky laid back craft cocktail bar where their drinks are as great as their presentation!
Bascule Bar - Perfect for a post dinner whiskey tasting and conveniently located in the Cape Grace Hotel.
Williamson Bar - Located conveniently in the Silo Hotel, this bar has fantastic cocktails with city views to match!
