Day trip
If you’re arriving in Orlando with enough time before embarkation — or even a full extra day — spending it at one of the city’s world-famous theme parks is a must. At Universal Orlando Resort, you can step right into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Wander Diagon Alley, ride the Hogwarts Express between parks and don’t leave without trying a butterbeer (trust me, it’s worth it).
Disney fans will love the classics at Magic Kingdom, like Space Mountain and the evening fireworks show, or the international flair of EPCOT with its incredible food and cultural pavilions. For something different, SeaWorld Orlando combines marine life encounters with thrilling coasters like Mako.

Need to know
Ensuring a stress-free port experience
Navigating Port Canaveral can feel overwhelming, especially for first-timers, but a little preparation goes a long way toward a stress-free experience. Here are some essential tips:
Transportation
Rideshares (Uber/Lyft): These are one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to get to the cruise terminal. Designated pickup and drop-off points make it convenient, but expect some traffic congestion during peak hours.
Private Transfers: If you prefer a more personalized option, many hotels and car services offer private transfers directly to the port. This can be particularly useful for families or larger groups with extra luggage.
Pro tip: Many hotels offer complimentary shuttles to the port or a convenient "Park and Cruise" package for those driving in. This can save you money compared to parking at the port. Be sure to let the front desk know you’ll need the shuttle and sign up at check-in to secure your spot for hassle-free transportation.
Bag drop service
Most cruise lines offer a porter service at the terminal. Drop your luggage with the porters upon arrival, and it will be delivered directly to your cabin. Be sure to tip $1–$2 per bag as a courtesy. In some cases, you can drop your bags earlier than your check-in time and take the complimentary trolley to (and from) Bayside Marketplace.
Terminal traffic
Port Canaveral is busy, with multiple ships embarking on the same day. Check your cruise line’s terminal number ahead of time to avoid confusion. Signs and port staff will guide you to the correct drop-off area. You can check the port schedule to see how many ships will be there on embarkation day.
Prepare a carry-on bag
Pack a small carry-on with essentials like travel documents (boarding pass, passport, etc.), medications and a change of clothes. Depending on the cruise line, checked luggage may not arrive at your cabin until later in the day. If you want to enjoy onboard amenities such as the pool, hot tubs or water slides right away, you'll want your bathing suit with you.
