Things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

  • Beaches: This may seem basic, but you can spend hours or even days exploring the stunning coastline here. It's really up to you!

  • Horseback riding: For those looking to get involved with some animals, riding a horse through the streets, trees and even beaches makes for a great time.

  • ATVs: Taking a drive in (or on) these offers a more intense experience if you're looking to get your blood pumping zooming through streets and dirt paths in the forests.

  • Boating: Being right on the Pacific Ocean, Puerto Vallarta provides a unique chance to climb on various types of boats. Set sail on the water, whether that's on jet skis to go fast or a nice sailing boat to lay back and relax on the sea

  • Ziplines: Another thrill-seeker type of activity for those wanting to fly through the air and catch some seriously gorgeous views.

  • Whales and dolphins: For the sea-life lovers, there are special opportunities to get up-close and personal with dolphins. There are chances to see whales during the peak season (typically December to April).

  • Scuba diving/snorkeling: Anyone trying to take more than just a dip in the water might enjoy grabbing some gear. Explore a whole new world underneath the surface.

  • Cultural/food tours: Of course, you can take a walk around the city yourself and experience Puerto Vallarta. But if you'd like a more organized day with expert knowledge of the area, picking up a tour with local guides can boost your trip!
