Day 1: Arrive in Mystic
Check into your hotel in the afternoon and unwind. If you're looking for an upscale accommodation in the heart of Downtown Mystic, The Whaler's Inn is phenomenal. Each room is unique and cozy. The inn is perfect for family getaways or a romantic couple's trip! I can also say from experience that their breakfast options are incredible (especially their breakfast potatoes!) There are so many hotels in the area, including many chain options, so finding a room within close proximity to downtown and the surrounding attractions is easy.
After you drop your bags, head just over the bridge and into the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Grab some dinner (and maybe a fancy cocktail!) at one of the many amazing restaurants on this strip. Personal recommendations include Chapter One, Food and Drink and The Mariner. The sea scallops at The Mariner are *chef's kiss*!
Save room for dessert so that you can indulge in one of the many flavor options at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream! Take your cone to-go and meander the boardwalk behind the shop as you watch the sunset.
Grab some shut-eye and prepare for a full day of sightseeing!
Day 2: Mystic Aquarium and beyond
Rise and shine! Enjoy the gourmet breakfast at the Whaler's Inn or venture into town for some pastries at Sift. Be sure to get there early — the line is often out the door. Other options include Rise — (also popular, so be prepared for a wait) and Young Buns if you're a donut fan!
Once you've eaten your fill, head to the Mystic Aquarium. Renowned for its beluga whale exhibit, the aquarium is fun for the whole family. Make sure you come prepared - most exhibits are outside, so pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly! Be sure to catch the Sea Lion show, which happens twice daily during the week and three times per weekend.
Grab some lunch at Mystic Market East, which has plenty of delicious salads and sandwiches to go.
After lunch, check out the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center or the Mystic Seaport Museum. The Seaport Museum is the largest of its kind in the United States. Visitors can explore various maritime artifacts as well as National Historic Landmark Vessels, including the Charles W. Morgan, "America's oldest commercial ship still in existence."
End the day with dinner and drinks at S&P Oyster Restaurant and Bar. For a more kid-friendly option, head up the street to Mystic Pizza!
Day 3: Sail into the Mystic
Get ready for a day at sea! Hop aboard the Argia to enjoy scenic views and idyllic lighthouses. Multiple sailing times are available, including a morning sail for early birds and a sunset sail for the romantics. Note - children under 10 are not permitted on sunset sails.
Once you've regained your sea legs, head to the Olde Mistick Village, a colonial-style village with fun shops and dining options. Grab some souvenirs and a bite to eat before you head back to reality!
