Curator’s statement

Located on Florida’s east coast between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach has much to offer! I’ve been fortunate to visit this area for the past 10 years to see family and friends and never get tired of exploring this part of Florida. I really enjoy how walkable Delray is to restaurants, shops, art galleries and the beach. There are multiple airports nearby, the closest being West Palm Beach then Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Come for the weekend or stay for the week!

Things to do in Delray Beach

A small body of water surrounded by trees during the daytime

Pineapple Grove Arts District

Walk downtown to see art galleries, shops and restaurants. *Tip - If you can’t find street parking, go to the Old School Square Parking Garage at 180 NE 1 St., Delray Beach

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

Get a feel for Japan at this beautiful garden and museum. Tip - Arrive in the morning and end your visit with delicious sushi for lunch served onsite at Cornell Cafe.

Delray Yacht Cruises

Take a relaxing boat ride through South Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. They have tours all year long that leave from Veterans Park on East Atlantic Avenue. Tip - Walk across the street to grab a bite to eat before or afterwards at Deck 84. It can get busy, so best to make a reservation (especially on the weekends).

Beaches:

  • Delray Beach

  • Atlantic Dunes Park

  • Gulfstream Park

Kids Activities:

The Girls

Not just strawberries, this place has a big petting zoo and a train ride around the farm for the little ones. Tip - Save room for a treat at their ice cream parlour.

Silverball Retro Arcade

Classic video games, skeeball, pinball unlimited play with a pass (by the hour or all day).
Tip - Two for Tuesday admission (buy one, get one free)

Sugar Sand Park (Boca Raton)

The kids can spend hours here! Tip - Bring a bathing suit and towel for the water play section. There is also a carousel and a science center to check out on rainy days.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (Boca Raton)

Walk along the boardwalk trail to spot birds and check out rescued sea turtles at the aquarium. Tip - Bring binoculars for the kids to spot the birds on the boardwalk.

Day trips

Fort Lauderdale (approximately 30-minute drive) or Miami (about an hour drive)

Tip - If you visit in February, the Delray Beach Open is happening in town. If you’re a tennis fan, you should get tickets in advance. If you’re not, I recommend looking at other dates to avoid the crowds.
