Curator’s statement

Todos Santos, a vibrant village just north of Cabo San Lucas, is a must-see destination for those visiting on a day trip from Cabo or a unique cruise excursion! Established as a Jesuit mission in 1723, this charming town bursts with colorful architecture, endless shopping adventures and, most importantly, mouthwatering food options that will delight any palate. Living just an hour away in La Paz, we love bringing our guests here to soak in the lively atmosphere and explore its hidden gems. With your own transportation, you can make the most of this itinerary, but even if you can't hit every spot, one thing is for sure: Todos Santos is a can't-miss experience that you'll be talking about long after your visit!

Where to stay in Mexico

Things to do in Mexico

A large, colorful mural of a bird and a man in a hat adorns the wall of an indoor space filled with sacks and various items.

Walk the town

This is a perfect place to explore the charming streets while shopping for your Mexican souvenirs and gifts. Many talented Mexican artists are represented. We love the pottery and artwork. Don’t miss the handmade rug shop on Main Street!

There is also an abundance of traditional Mexican tourist gifts, like magnets and t-shirts. One good option for such things is the Hotel California gift shop or the permanent bazaar right near the mission. But make sure you check out some of the little family-owned shops as well.

Visit historic locations

Located across the street from the small-town plaza is a beautiful mission church, Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz, founded by Father Jaime Bravo in 1723. The public is welcome to respectfully enter.

Photo opportunity

Don't miss a chance to take your photo next to the iconic Todos Santo sign, next to the Mission, overlooking the valley! During peak tourist season, locals often take pictures for a small donation, but don't hesitate to just take your own.

Visit the beach

Todos Santos is about a mile from the Pacific Ocean, but if you have your own transportation, there are some great beach options nearby. Cerritos or Pescadero Beaches are both swim-friendly, but be aware the beaches north of those have dangerous riptides.

Turtle releases

Every day between December 8 and January 30, you can watch a turtle hatchling release! These are open to the public and free of charge — although a donation is awesome to help support this valuable program. There is nothing quite as exciting as these little guys scrambling their way into the ocean! For more information, check out Tortugueros Las Playitas.

Places to eat & drink in Mexico

A beachside seating area with chairs, tables, a fire pit under palm trees, and a clear blue sky.

Morning coffee & pastries at Docequentra

Start your day with some local flavor at this gorgeous coffee shop. Off a dirt road just out of town, this beautiful location always elicits gasps of surprise. The coffee is decedent. The pastries? Perfection. There are also food options. After trying it many times, I recommend the hummus toast! There is a large, unique selection of gifts and goodies. There are indoor, garden and patio seating options. And if you need a place to get some work done, they have an upstairs area with great wifi, dedicated just to you.

Appetizers at Oystera

Stop here for a bite! The flavors are divine. You’ll want to come back for more. Even if you are not an oyster person, the destination is worth a visit! The restaurant is also surrounded by several high-end stores with some beautiful shopping options.

Lunch or dinner at The Green Room

Hidden away but absolutely worth it! This is a must visit: incredible food, magical ambiance and the best drinks in Mexico. This is a few miles out of town, and you have to trust the map, because you will be sure it is taking you on a wild goose chase! Once you park, follow the path through the trees to find your paradise.
