Things to do on The Slopes
Ski Portillo (Hotel Portillo)
Nestled in the Chilean Andes and the oldest ski resort in South America, Ski Portillo is a stunning ski in/ski out resort that attracts skiers of all levels and all ages. The ski season is opposite that of the Northern Hemisphere so you would want to plan a trip to Ski Portillo between July to September for the best conditions. The nearest airport to Ski Portillo is Santiago, Chile, which is a relatively easy flight from several major U.S. cities. Ski Portillo is located two hours northeast of Santiago and a private or group airport transfer can be arranged for your party in advance. The drive is a scenic one that passes by vineyards and the Andes Mountains.
With a stay at Hotel Portillo, you will have daily unlimited access to the ski lifts, four daily meals in the hotel dining room, daycare for children ages four to seven free of charge, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, access to the heated pool, fitness center, cinema, rock climbing wall, and ski and boot check. This is a wonderful resort that can accommodate solo travelers, friends, or families. One item to note is that there are no televisions in the hotel guestrooms, as a way to be fully present and completely disconnect. Ski Portillo is known for having the best Heli Skiing in the Andes Mountains, priced per run, along with a wonderful après ski environment so you really can’t go wrong with this incredible resort!
Not included in the package: Daycare for children 0 to three years old, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, massages, beauty services, rental equipment, ski and snowboard school classes, transfers and tips.
Club Med Quebec-Charlevoix (Canada)
The next all-inclusive ski resort package option is Club Med Quebec-Charlevoix. As a resort in the Northern Hemisphere, your standard ski season from December to April would be suitable for travel. This resort is located about 1.5 hours from Quebec and just over four hours from Montreal. Offering beautiful views of the St. Lawrence River and an array of activities outside of skiing including dog sled rides, ice skating, festive nights and theater shows, there is something for everyone and a great option for families who don’t necessarily want a super long flight. You’ll have the opportunity to ski down Le Massif de Charlevoix, the greatest vertical drop East of the Rockies.
As an all-inclusive ski resort package, your rate will provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and a full open bar, in addition to lift passes and lodging, group ski lessons, kids’ club access and Wi-Fi. Childcare for children four to 17 years old is included. For an additional fee, a baby club is available for children four plus months up to three years of age. With various packages available including a two-night weekend package, three-night short stay, and a seven-night week vacation, the options are endless. Flights can be included or purchased separately.
Club Med Alpe d’Huez (France)
Located in the Grandes Rousses mountains in France, Club Med Alpe d’Huez is approximately three hours and 15 minutes from Geneva, Switzerland. This all-inclusive ski resort is known for the legendary Sarenne, a 10-mile run and the longest in Europe. This ski in/ski out resort features 67 ski lifts and 111 slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. As another Northern Hemisphere option, your trip would be ideally planned between early December to mid April (you may consider late February or March to hit the best snow conditions).
As an all-inclusive ski resort package, your rate will provide lift passes and lodging, gourmet dining, a full open bar, access to an indoor pool, yoga classes, childcare for ages four to 17, and ski and snowboard lessons for age four and up. The resort houses unforgettable snow experiences such as an ice-skating rink and “skijoring,” a sport where a skier is pulled by a horse. Flights can be included or purchased separately.
Places to eat & drink on The Slopes
Gourmet dining is provided as an inclusive option at all of the resorts listed above.
