Curator’s statement

Hilton Head holds a special place in my heart. It's not just the stunning beach that beckons me, but the family ties that bind me to this coastal gem. I've come to appreciate the allure of the Lowcountry, where sand and waves meet Southern hospitality. What makes Hilton Head unique? The beach, of course, but it's also the alligators lurking in the waterways and the playful dolphins dancing in the waves. My tip for this trip: Embrace the easygoing spirit of the island, relax, and savor every moment. Hilton Head invites you to unwind and enjoy life at its own pace.

Day 1: Welcome to Paradise

Upon your arrival, settle into your comfortable hotel. Take a moment to soak in the vacation vibes as you relax by the pool. In the evening, gather around a beachside firepit to make some s'mores, creating memories under the starry sky.

Day 2: Sandy Toes & Ocean Views

Start the day with a beach adventure. We enjoyed Islanders Beach Park because at low tide it had nice little sandy tide pool areas that my kids loved. After a morning of seaside exploration, head back to your hotel to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the hotel bar. Take in the serene ocean views and embrace the relaxed pace of island life.

Day 3: Dolphins and Shrimp Dreams

Immerse yourself in the Lowcountry's charm with a thrilling Dolphin Tour. Afterwards, explore the wonders of the Lowcountry Celebration Park. They have an awesome pirate ship splash pad and park for the kids to play. We also love Coligny Beach, which is right by the park. The white sand is gorgeous. For dinner, indulge in fresh-caught shrimp from the Piggly Wiggly, savoring the authentic flavors of the coastal region. I know it sounds like a weird suggestion, but the shrimp is literally caught that day and brought right to the Piggly Wiggly, so it's fresh and delicious.

Day 4: Savannah's Charm

A family sitting near the beach during daytime.

Venture on a day trip to the enchanting city of Savannah. Delve into its history and vibrant streets with a guided tour. We opted for a short horse drawn carriage tour, which was perfect with our young kids. Enjoy a delightful lunch at the iconic Pirate House, where history meets exquisite cuisine. Don't forget to treat yourself to the delectable ice cream at Leopold's. If you are dairy free, I highly recommend Leopold’s, the best dairy free ice cream I have ever had, my husband didn’t even notice a difference. Make sure to wander along the historic River Street and make time to explore the fascinating dinosaur exhibit at the JW Marriott.

Day 5: Beach Bliss

Let the sun and sand embrace you on another glorious beach day. If you’re in the mood to go out for dinner, I recommend trying Dockside. The food is great, and you can catch a beautiful sunset right on the water.

Day 6: Sea Pine Pirate Adventures

An image of a family at the beach on a sunny day.

You cannot go to Hilton Head without visiting the iconic Sea Pines Resort. Make sure you have cash as there is a $9 fee to enter the area and they do not accept card of any sort. You can visit the lighthouse and eat lunch at Quarterdeck Quarterdeck | The Sea Pines Resort or one of their many options. If you are visiting Sea Pines with kids the Pirate Ship adventure aboard the Black Dagger Pirate Ship Cruise | Pirates Of Hilton Head - SC is a must. The kids loved fighting Stinky Pete and finding pirate treasure, it is an experience the kids will be talking about for weeks.

Day 7: Farewell to the Shore

A couple sitting near the beach during daytime.

As your journey comes to an end, make the most of your final day by relaxing at the hotel's pool or on the beach. It's the perfect way to bid farewell to the enchanting Lowcountry before heading home.
