Curator’s statement

Europe, with its rich history and cultural tapestry, has become a playground for seasoned travelers. It’s easy to understand why — the continent offers everything from bustling metropolises to quaint countryside villages, and it’s all easily accessible. I’ve been there, done that. The Tate Modern, the Louvre, the British Museum — these iconic institutions are undoubtedly breathtaking, but there’s a part of me that craves something more.

As travel becomes increasingly accessible, with budget airlines connecting even the remotest corners, many of us find ourselves returning to familiar destinations.

I’ve stood in awe before the Mona Lisa, marveled at the Parthenon's grandeur and wandered through the opulent halls of Versailles. These experiences are unforgettable, but they also represent the well-trodden path. As a lifelong traveler with an insatiable curiosity, I began to wonder what lay beyond these familiar landmarks. I longed to discover the hidden gems, the quirky corners and the unexpected treasures that Europe has to offer. So, I set out on a quest to find those extraordinary museums that most people overlook, the places that tell stories beyond the mainstream.
