Experiences are at the core of my personal travel and I realized that passion for authenticity should be shared far and wide with others who appreciate when the Maltese restaurateur says “This is Malta; you will return one day and that’s when you’ll pay me” when he realizes his credit card reader isn’t functioning. Or when the owner of an Italian coffee shop insists that I miss the next train because espresso should be appreciated from the terrace and not in a Styrofoam cup while running down the street. Or the moment a person carrying dozens of skeleton keys asks if our small group would be interested in seeing a 17th Century chapel discovered behind a 100-year old hardware store in a Spanish village of 600 residents. Maybe it’s a hunt for the best cheese (and wine) in the world which leads to both but in an unsuspecting town of just 2,000. Perhaps it’s listening to a Senegalese guitarist sharing his talents via candlelight in a tent in Morocco’s Agafay Desert.
