I have loved the all-inclusive resort stays with my family, but I prefer dragging them from place to place, seeing all there is to see in whatever locale I am in — you might not be back there for a long time, if ever. EVERY place has its amazing local food, tourist "traps" that are must-sees, as well as many, many off-the-beaten-path gems. If there is a temple, and a jungle tour, and a taco stand and a local bar, and a boat tour, and another great place a few hours away — I want to see them ALL!
