Curator’s statement
Grenada should be known for so much more than the plentiful fragrant spices that grow there. It’s a lush leeward island where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Covered in thick green rainforests with cascading waterfalls and surrounded by breathtaking beaches of all textures and hues, it’s a must-visit destination for many types of travelers! This is a re-cap of one of the many trips I’ve taken to Grenada – it’s complete with relaxation, breathtaking views and a bit of adventure on land and sea – a perfect itinerary for couples – romantic or platonic!

Day 1: Yoga & massages, Annandale Falls, sunset dinner at Laluna
We arrived at GND the evening before and made our way to Laluna by taxi. After settling into our cottage, we had a quick cocktail and bite to eat at the beach-side hotel bar before heading over to Dodgy Dock for a night of dancing (it's the local Wednesday night lime).
The next morning, we awoke (earlier than expected) to the sound of the ocean and headed down the hill from our cottage for breakfast and an early morning dip in the beach before indulging in morning yoga on the beach, followed by Balinese massages at the spa.
Laluna is low key, rustic luxury – its 16 private cottages (plus a few additional villas for families) are nestled on a private beach cove between BBC & Magazine Beaches. The crowd is mature, and the ambiance is peaceful. It’s a great hotel choice for a short, intimate weekender or even a solo recharge trip, but also convenient to attractions if it’s your first time on the island.
After a relaxing morning on property, we took a scenic drive through St. Georges and up to Annandale falls – this is the most navigable of the waterfalls in Grenada; It’s fully paved from entrance to falls and features a bar and grill - where you can grab a cocktail after taking a swim (or while observing others) in the falls.
Head back to Laluna in time to enjoy a sunset dinner.
Day 2: Half day sail, afternoon spa & sunset dinner at Silversands
We met our private catamaran at Port Louis Marina and set sail for a half-day excursion on the ocean. We sail often when in Grenada, so rather than visiting the Underwater Sculpture Park; for this sail, we simply asked the captain to take us somewhere new. We were welcomed aboard with cocktails – homemade Rum Punch and ice cold beers. We sailed to a small, uninhabited island that was surrounded by coral and a lush conch bed – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many HUGE, beautiful shells in my life! We dove and swam until it was time to take off for the next stop. On the way we feasted on fresh grilled fish caught from the back of the boat, homemade salads from the Captain’s garden and of course more Rum Punch. The last stop was to the calm (and warm) BBC Beach, where we anchored the boat and swam just far enough out that we could race to shore and back for the reward of the relaxing sail back into port along with more Rum Punch.
We then headed to Silversands Resort (with our change of clothes) for apres-sail facials, followed by a sunset dinner overlooking the renowned Grand Anse beach.
Day 3: Authentic Grenadian cooking experience, sunset & dinner at Laluna
Food is such an important part of the Grenadian experience. On this excursion, we traveled outside St. Georges and spent the afternoon with a local Chef harvesting, preparing and feasting on an authentic garden-to-table Grenadian meal.
After our cooking experience, we headed back to Laluna to relax and indulge in the property as much as possible before our departure the next morning.
Other hotel options
If you don’t stay on the property you can still experience it by purchasing a day pass which includes a massage, yoga class, cocktail and lunch, as well as access to their beach and non-motorized water sports!
For the uber luxury traveler: Silversands Grenada is a comparable (yet higher priced) alternative for travelers who prefer modern, luxury resort properties (versus the eco-chic, boutique feel of Laluna).
For the budget traveler: True Blue Bay Resort is not on a beach, but is a popular alternative (with a more approachable ambiance) due to the central, easily accessible location – Dodgy Dock bar is located here.
